Griffiths Waite had undergone huge internal expansions and realised from their future planning that their existing offices would not fulfil their requirements. Although happy with their location Hill Street, central Birmingham the offices were cluttered and the office furniture did not match.

Re-branding and updating was required as well as improved facilities for staff and expansion space. A refurbished office suite with an increase in floor space by 50% was located on the 6th floor.

Griffiths Waite’s brief showed a requirement for site surveys, furniture audits, space planning, Cad and 3D visuals. Their brief included requirements for  zoned areas, flexible space and open ended solutions for future flexibility, along with their corporate identity reflected in the space. They needed to move before their ‘busy period’ which was fast approaching and so turn around was swift.

Products including bench and individual desking, reception, meeting furniture, breakout and soft seating were selected and ordered after showroom and site visits. Seating samples were supplied for staff to evaluate.

The delivery and installation had to be primarily out of hours – weekends and evenings and access was restricted both in the offices, circulation areas and outside the building with strict council parking and offloading restrictions.   On completion of the installation of new furniture a phased move of staff was necessary, some existing furniture was being retained. This was dismantled and moved out of hours so there was no ‘down time’ for the company. Excess unwanted furniture was removed and disposed of environmentally to private companies and charities to lessen the impact.

The PM and design team lead by Samantha Leigh delivered a well-planned, well communicated phased installation with minimum disruption, in a very challenging premises.   Suppliers were well co-ordinated within a tight schedule – it was critical to keep on programme and to the promised dates to reduce operational upheaval to Griffiths Waite.

What seemed to be practically un achievable was delivered on time, on budget and to the clients great satisfaction.
